Abstract

1393502 Device for determining printing parameters ETAB FRESA 27 Feb 1973 [1 March 1972] 9529/73 Heading G4B [Also in Division B6] A device for determining any one of three printing parameters when the other two are known, comprises a plurality of slides, each bearing a particular value of a first of the three parameters and including values for the other two parameters, corresponding values of which are aligned transversely to the slide. The three parameters are (a) the number of type characters (including spaces) of a particular size in a single standard length line of type, (b) the number of lines of type and (c) the number of characters in a number of lines. a x b = c. As shown at window 16, there are 1155 characters in 15 lines of the standard size of type which fills one line with 77 characters. The slides may be of polygonal cross-sections other than the equilateral triangular cross-section shown and may be hollow, e.g. formed from a longitudinally folded strip of cardboard, plastics or metal. Alternatively the slides may be flat.
