Barges.-The deck of a barge is supported upon, and secured to, a number of separate hulls approximately cylindrical in shape arranged with their axes parallel and coupled by short girders d. The deck e is provided with a coaming g having doors, the lower portions n of which can be folded down to form a gangway across that portion l<1> of the deck outside the coaming for vehicles &c. An angle-bar m is fitted along the gunwale, as shown, to form a foot-rail. The upper portions n<1> of the doors, when open, fold back against the coaming.
