Abstract
1391849 Vertical tube furnaces ELECTRONIC MEMORIES & MAGNETICS CORP 21 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 18676/72 Heading F4B A vertical tube furnace for sintering magnetic cores comrises a treatment tube 18 with an upper parts feeder 14 and a pressure gas regulator 34, an outer tube 20 disposed within a refractory lining 24 enclosing electric heating elements 22, and a bore 16 for treated cores leaving the tube at 30. Cooling gas is supplied through a pipe 38. The furnace is divided into heating zones 41-44 by baffles 48 each zone having a thermocouple 50. The treatment tube 18 is about inch wide and may be made of Pt, the heating elements may be SiC rods and the tube 20 may be made of Al 2 O 3 . Owing to the presence of the gas, the cores, which may be <SP>1</SP>/ 50 inch in diameter, fall at random down the 7 foot treatment tube 18, the gas rate being controlled so that the cores take about 3 sees. in said fall. The cores may be rapidly tested to enable speedy adjustment of the furnace conditions.
