Abstract

1391782 Plug boards PLESSEY CO Ltd 18 May 1972 [21 May 1971] 16398/71 Heading H2E A wiring connector for edge connectors 1 comprises superposed boards 6-9 which may be flexible each having a matrix of holes aligned with the matrix of terminals 2. At least one of the boards carries wiring elements 14 having portions which closely encircle, 15, each of the holes at which connection between boards or to the terminals is required the connections being made by socket bushes dimensioned to act also as spacers for the boards. As shown, Fig. 2, the printed circuit wiring elements 20 are sandwiched between insulating layers 19, 21; layer 21 being removed at 22 to allow connection to be made to a socket bush 23 which is inserted into the hole and rivetted into place. Dummy bushes are inserted for extra support where connections are not required. Contact pins 17 are smaller in diameter than the hole to allow for bush misalignment and are provided with contact springs 28. "Part-boards" (Fig. 4, not shown), may also be used.
