1391755 Sanitary closets LANDSTINGENS INKOPSCENTRAL 25 June 1973 [5 July 1972] 29983/73 Heading E1C A portable seat unit, for fitting to the upper edge of the bowl of a sanitary closet to provide an elevated seat for use by invalids, comprises a circular or, as shown U shaped seat divided into two halves 11, 12 which are hinged together as at 14 to enable the seat halves to be folded together with their upper surfaces facing each other, and a longitudinally extending support element 15, 16, respectively, hinged along one longitudinal edge to the underside of each seat half so that the support element can extend normally to the undersurface of the seat, with its opposite longitudinal edge resting on the upper edge of the closet bowl, or be folded flat against the underside of the seat half when not in use. Additional support elements 18, 22, 23 are preferably provided, being attached by hinges 19, 24, 25 and secured by noses 21 on the free ends of the elements 18, 23 being engaged in openings 20 in the elements 15, 16 respectively. Arrows 31, 32, 34 indicate 'the directions of folding of these additional elements which is carried out prior to folding of the elements 15, 16 and, finally the seat halves, when the unit is to be removed from the closet bowl. The final folded condition (Fig. 3, not shown) is therefore substantially flat. To prevent the unit, when mounted on the closet bowl, from slipping off, downwardly projecting lugs 26, 27, 28 are provided. The hinges are preferably foldable plastics elements and all the support elements are preferably also of plastics material.
