Abstract
1391280 Extracting protein from microorganisms SCP-EXPLOATERING AB 3 Oct 1972 [11 Oct 1971] 45604/72 Heading C6F Micro-organisms in suspension are subjected to cell wall disintegration and then the pH is raised to > 6 (preferably not greater than 12) and the temperature to > 30‹C and the thus precipitated protein is separated. Disintegration is preferably performed mechanically. The cell walls may be removed before precipitating the protein from the suspension by raising the pH to dissolve the protein and filtering. A salt e.g. sodium chloride in an amount of up to 20%, may be added prior to the precipitation step.
