Abstract

1390439 2-Stroke fuels; lubricants 1NSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 4 July 1972 [5 July 1971] 31190/72 Headings C5F and C5G A 2-stroke engine is lubricated by introducing a lubricant composition comprising at least one polyester of formula or or where G is an aliphatic diol residue; A is (1) a dicarboxylic acid residue selected from saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acids, halogenated saturated or halogenated unsaturated alicyclic acids, and halogenated aromatic acids, or (2) a residue of a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic bicarboxylic acid; X is H or an acyl radical derived from a monocarboxylic acid; Y is OH, a hydrocarbyloxy group derived from a primary or secondary monohydric alcohol or a residue of a primary or secondary monoamine, and n is at least 1. The ester may comprise the whole of the lubricant, or as little as 0À01% of it, the remainder being light petroleum fraction, e.g. kerosene, jet fuel or white spirit; mineral, paraffinic or napthhenic lubricating oils; or synthetic polymeric hydrocarbon oils. The lubricant composition may also contain additives such as detergents, carboxylic acids, alcohol amines, amides, nitriles, amine salts, or a simple or complex ester.
