Abstract
1390432 Control of A.C. motors MYRON ZUCKER Inc 14 June 1972 [14 June 1971] 27803/72 Heading H2J An induction motor 10 is braked by connecting star-connected D.C. electrolytic capacitors across its windings when the power supply 36 is removed. A relay coil 32 is de-energized when main contacts 34A-34C are opened thus closing further contacts 32A-32C and connecting a set of electrolytic capacitors 38, 40; 42, 44; and 46, 48 to conductors 26, 28, 30. Resistors 72, 74, 76 and another set of electrolytic capacitors 54, 56; 58, 60; 62, 64 may also be provided in parallel with the first capacitor set. In the final stages of braking, mechanical braking may be additionally employed. Capacitors 65, 68, 70 connected across conductors 26, 28, 30 provide phase angle correction.
