Abstract

1389937 Curing epoxy resins CIBA-GEIGY AG 18 April 1972 [22 April 1971] 17876/72 Heading C3B Cured moulded articles are prepared by mixing: (I) an uncured epoxy resin having an epoxide content of at least 2 equivalents per kg. with (II) a preformed mixture of a polycarboxylic acid anhydride and a polyhydric phenol containing 5-60% by wt. of the phenol (based on anhydride); the sum of equivalents of phenol plus anhydride are 70-100% of the epoxide equivalents of I. At least one of I and II contain a catalyst for the epoxide-anhydride reaction. I may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A having 5-5À8 epoxide equivalent per kg. II may be a mixture of a methylendomethylene-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and bisphenol A.
