Abstract

1389743 Filling-machines USINE G J BAELE SA 9 June 1972 [14 Dec 1971] 26959/72 Heading B8T [Also in Division F2] A valve for delivering liquid into a receptacle 1, comprises a filling tube 3, a valve body 2 containing a closure member (not shown), for closing the filling tube, a centering bell 6, inlet ducts 4, 8 for introducing counter pressure gas into the receptacle, return ducts 5, 9 through which the gas leaves the receptacle during filling, and an annular chamber 10 containing a buoyant closure member 14. During filling, the member 14 assumes the position shown, but when the receptacle is full the liquid or foam rising into annular chamber 10 causes the member 14 to seat against surface 17 thereby closing the gas inlet and return ducting. This prevents the liquid rising into the ducting and, moreover, terminates liquid delivery without creating water hammer in the filling system.
