Abstract

1389614 Reciprocating pumps and motors KELSEY-HAYES CO 11 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 16726/72 Heading F1A A well is stimulated hydraulically by a pump comprising at least two sequentially operated pumping rams PA, PB moved on their forward strokes by respective hydraulic power rams RA, RB and on their return strokes by pairs of hydraulic rams QA, QB, the return stroke being faster than the forward stroke so that power rams RA, RB can be initially pressurized at a pressure less than their driving pressure prior to commencing their forward stroke, thereby providing a smooth pump output. The pump and its control gear are mounted on a vehicle, Fig. I (not shown), a turbine engine driving pumps supplying driving liquid to the power rams, and a diesel engine driving a pump for pressurizing an accumulator AC1 supplying return rams QA, QB. The valves V1A-V5B controlling the operation of power rams RA, RB are pneumatically controlled by a circuit, Fig. 3B (not shown), controlled by tappet valves AV1A-AV2B actuated at the end of each stroke of the ram assemblies, the pneumatic circuit incorporating a control for independently adjusting the positions of the ram assemblies.
