Abstract

1387918 Rotary positive-displacement machines RAMSEY CORP 6 Sept 1972 [1 Oct 1971] 41326/72 Heading F1F In a rotary-piston I. C. engine an oil-seal assembly 10 is lodged in an annular groove 11 in a piston side-wall 12, abuts a fixed end-plate 16 and comprises an annular housing 18, sealing rings 19, 20 and spring rings 21, which are assembled before insertion in the groove. The assembly may also comprise a sealing ring 23 and abut an O-ring 51. Each of the rings 19, 20 has an annular nose 35 with either a flat outer surface 36 or a conic one, Figs.7 and 8 (not shown). Each of the rings 21 has fingers 44 struck from a section 42 at regular circumferential intervals. In a modification, Fig.6 (not shown), the assembly comprises only one sealing ring and co-operating spring-ring.
