Abstract
1387660 Power cable KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 1 Sept 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 40713/72 Heading H1A An electrical power cable comprises at least one conductor core 5, which may be solid, or consist of separate conductors 25 each of which has an outer covering 27 metallurgically bonded to the core 26, such that covering 27 consists of a metallic material, e.g. copper which resists corrosion. The conductors may be compacted to sector shape and each is separately sheathed in a plastics covering 5. Filler threads 12, tape wrapping 10 and plastics sheath 9 complete the cable. The metalllic covering 27 may be applied to the aluminium core 26 as a thin longitudinally extending tube, welded at the edges and bonded by drawing down. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the conductors 13 are circular in cross-section, and an armouring layer (23) may be applied over an inner sheath (21) enclosing the conductors (13).
