Abstract
1387040 Mixed oxides WACKER-CHEMIE GmbH 2 May 1972 [4 May 1971] 20389/72 Heading ClA [Also in Division C3] A pyrogenic mixed oxide of boron and silicon containing 82À5% wt. SiO 2 and 17À5% wt. B 2 O 3 and a surface area of 180 m.<SP>2</SP>/g. is prepared by a flame hydrolysis method in which evaporated SiCl 4 and BCl 3 are burned in a combustion chamber, at a temperature above 800‹ C., together with hydrogen whilst introducing air. The mixed oxide produced is separated off via a cyclone and freed of residual HCl by heating to 200‹ C.
