Abstract

1386851 Ropes ODESSKY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI POLITEKHNICHESKY INSTITUT 22 March 1972 13285/72 Heading D1T To avoid excessive weight in extra long lifting ropes the ropes are constructed from a plurality of wires and a number of these wires are made of two sections joined together at differing locations along the length of the rope, of which the upper one 3 is made from metal and the lower one 4 is made from a material whose specific weight is smaller than that of the metal of the upper section. Figs. 2 to 5 show various crosssections through the rope at various points along its length commencing from its upper end. The rope may comprise stranded layers and between these layers there may be parallel non-stranded wires.
