Abstract

1386810 Fastener driving tools MAKITA ELECTRIC WORKS Ltd 20 Sept 1972 [22 Sept 1971 6 Dec 1971 14 Feb 1972] 43638/72 Heading B4C An electrically-operated hand tool for driving a nail 24 and washer 26 comprises a reciprocatory hammer 2 mounted in a head 1a for striking a plunger shaft 7, a tool holder 8 having a plunger 20 adapted to hold the head of the nail and move forward when given a series of blows from the plunger shaft, means 28 for holding the washer around the nail, and means, such as holding rings 14, 16 and stepped portions 15, 17 on the plunger shaft, for frictionally holding the shaft to prevent detachment of the tool holder during normal usage of the hand tool. The hammer 2 may be cushioned by a buffer 6 and the tool holder 8 provided with a rubber foot 30. The washer holding means may be a polyurethane rod 28 inserted into a circular crosssection groove 27 so as to project slightly into the bore 9 of the tool holder.
