Abstract

1385339 Laminates TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO KK 24 March 1972 [3 April 1971] 13961/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Sheets of polyester or polyolefins may be adhered to each other or to other substrates using an adhesive composition which comprises 100 parts of a component (A) which is a hydroxyl-terminated polyurethane prepolymer prepared by reacting a diol of M.W. 500 to 3000 with #,#<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanato dimethylcyclohexane in an amount such that the NCO/OH ratio is 1À02 to 1À10 to give an NCO-terminated prepolymer which is reacted with a polyol of M.W. not higher than 400 and having at least 3 hydroxyl groups per molecule in an amount such that the ratio of OH/NCO is 3 to 10 and from 1 to 100 parts by weight of a component (B) which is an NCO-terminated prepolymer prepared by reacting a low M.W. diol or polyol having a M.W. not higher than 400 with #,#<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanatc dimethylcyclohexane in an amount such as to provide an NCO/OH ratio of not lower than 1À5. The high molecular weight diol used in the preparation of component (A) may be a polyether or polyester diol. Both components (A) and (B) may be prepared in the presence of an inert solvent and the adhesive composition may be used as a solution in an organic solvent. In examples two polyethylene terephthalate films are adhered to each other and two polypropylene films are adhered to each other with the polyurethane adhesives of the invention.
