Abstract

1384326 Laminating SNIA VISCOSA SOC NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA 23 June 1972 [25 June 1971] 29477/72 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions B2 and A3] A method of manufacturing a heterogeneous fibrous structure comprises the steps of applying an adhesive to one face of a non-woven, coherent, fibrous layer 10 at areas occupying only a part of the total area of the face and arranged in a geometrically uniform pattern 14, applying and bonding to the face by the action of the adhesive, a plurality of monofilaments 12 arranged parallel to one another and spaced apart, and applying to the face of the layer carrying the monofilaments a further amount of an adhesive. The layer 10 may be a felt of polyamide, polyester or viscous fibres and is preferably made coherent by quilting or sewing. The mono-filaments may be of polyamide or polyester. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 3 and 4, a non-woven fabric 10 from roll 20 is coated by roller 22 co-operating with roller 24 with an adhesive, e.g. a solution of a catalyst polyester or acrylic resin, the adhesive coated fabric being dried in oven 26, combined at the nip between roller 28 and heated roller 30 with filaments from roll 32, cooled by rollers 36 and 38 and wound into a roll 40 prior to unrolling, coating at station 42 with a powdered adhesive, e.g. a vinyl resin, a polyolefine or a plasticized polyamide, heating in oven or heating chamber 44 and cooling by rollers 46. The product may be used as a stuffing, padding or reinforcing material for a garment.
