Abstract
1384212 Nickel base superalloy CRUCIBLE Inc 19 April 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 18972/73 Heading C7A A nickel base superalloy of composition:- Balance nickel and impurities produced by powder metallurgy and characterized by the absence of minor phase concentrations at prior powder particle boundaries. The particles may be prepared by gas atomization of a melt of the above composition, may have a mean intercept boundary spacing of less than 10 microns and may be compacted by hot isostatic pressing (e.g. at 2,100F and 15,000 p.s.i), extrusion, forging or rolling to give composites of density exceeding 95% of theoretical density which may be heat treated for 1 or 4 hours at 2,000F or 2,100F, oil quenched, held for 4 or 24 hours at 1,200F or 1,500F, air cooled, held for 8 or 16 hours at 1,400F and air cooled and may be used as a constructional material for jet engines.
