As shown there are two common circuits: firstly a D.C. power supply circuit N which produces D.C. power U B for every meter from a supply R, S, T, O; and secondly a set of units MR, MS, MT, each of which converts an associated phase voltage U R , U S , U T into a corresponding mark/space ratio significant pulse train, which pulse trains are applied on lines 1, 2, 3 to all the meters V1, V2, ..., Vn. Each meter also receives the phase currents J R , J S , J T through the loads whose energy consumption is being measured. The arrangement is particular appropriate for large apartment buildings.
