Abstract

1382826 Polyolefin rubber laminates DUNLOP Ltd 2 March 1972 [19 March 1971] 7412/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] Polyolefin rubber components are bonded by melting a composition comprising an ethylene/ α-methylene copolymer or terpolymer containing 65 to 95 mole per cent ethylene units, and allowing the composition to cool in contact with the components. The composition may contain CaO, BaO, SrO or B 2 O 3 as dessicant and may also include an olefin homopolymer such as polyethylene or polypropylene or an olefin copolymer such as an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer. Specified α-olefins are propylene, butene-1, and pentene-1: specified termonomers are dicyclopentadiene, norbornadiene, ethylidene or an alkenyl norbornene hexadiene-1,2, 4,3-dimethyl butadiene, dimethyl octadiene, 1,4,9-decatriene, 1,2-divinyl cyclobutane, vinyl cyclopentene, vinyl cyclohexene, trivinyl cyclohexane, cycloheptatriene, cyclooctadiene, tetrahydroindene, alkylphenyl acetylene. The rubber component(s) may be vulcanized prior to, or whilst in contact with the composition.
