Abstract

1382593 Fluid pressure operated brakes GIRLING Ltd 16 May 1972 [1 June 1971] 18236/71 Heading F2F In an hydraulic flow control valve assembly for use for example in a vehicle having power steering and hydraulic brakes and comprising a housing having an inlet passage 5 for connection to a source of hydraulic fluid under pressure such as a pump 37, a first outlet passage 9 for connection to an accumulator, a first normally closed one way valve 11 for controlling communication between passages 5 and 9 and which opens when the pressure in the inlet passage exceeds a first predetermined value and closes when it exceeds a second predetermined value, and a second outlet 10 for connection to the power steering, flow therethrough being controlled by a second normally closed valve 17 which opens when the pressure in outlet passage 10 attains at least the said second predetermined value, the second valve 17 is normally urged into its closed position by a spring 29, movement into an open position being effected by a differential piston 36 working in a stepped bore and of which the end of smaller area acts on the valve 17, formed by a ball 24 and seating 25 and the end of greater area is exposed to the pressure in the inlet passage.
