Abstract

1381997 Brake-circuit pressure-failure indicators DBA SA 16 April 1973 [24 May 1972] 18272/73 Heading F2E [Also in Division H1] A differential pressure switch for use in a dual brake circuit comprises a double-acting piston and cylinder assembly 16, 18, Fig. 1, separating cavities 26, 28, the housing comprising two relatively pivotal parts 10, 12 having mounting lugs 36, 38 with fluid bores 56, 62, whereby the assembly may be mounted on fluid connection bosses 44, 46 which may be out of angular alignment. The parts 10, 12 are slidingly connected by a plug and socket connector 14, 20 with a fluid seal 15 whereby the lugs 36, 38 may also be aligned lengthwise with the fluid connection bosses 44, 46. The pistons 18 are urged towards the central neutral position, shown; by opposed compression coil springs 22, 24, but in the event of a sufficient pressure difference one of the pistons 18 engages an insulated conductor 34 at shoulder 33 to close a warning circuit. Screws 40, 42 for clamping the lugs 36, 38 have bores 52, 54 co-operating with bores 56, 62 in the lugs for the passage of pressure fluid. In the example shown, applied to a differential pressure warning system for a dual brake pressure cylinder 48, the body part 10 has bosses 64, 66 for fluid connection to the two brake systems.
