Abstract

138,159. Coe, G. Jan. 29, 1919. Pontoons.-The invention is described as applied to walls and other structures, and is stated in the Provisional Specification to be applicable to pontoons &c. The wall is composed of hollow precast concrete units or blocks, such as that shown in Fig. 1, which, during the building of the wall, are filled in with reir forced concrete without the use of shuttering, so as to form substantial ribs or piliars d, Fig. 4, which penetrate the several courses of blocks, the joints between the blocks, which are grooved as shown, being simultaneously filled with the wet concrete, so that the whole forms a homogeneous mass. The blocks may be provided with reinforcements b which may project at the ends and into the parts a<1>, a<3>, a<5>, Fig. 7, of the structure, which are formed in the ordinary way of concrete cast in situ with the use of shuttering. The blocks may be of various forms.
