Abstract

1381421 Photographic apparatus POLAROID CORP 15 Feb 1973 [17 Feb 1972] 7518/73 Headings G2E and G2X A photographic apparatus for use with a film cassette within which there may be performed (a) a first program comprising processing the film within the cassette (preferably together with projection of the processed film and rewind); and (b) an alternative second program including projection of the film (and preferably also rewind), the cassette carrying an indication of whether or not processing of the film has been completed, in which the apparatus comprises a receiver for holding the cassette, a sensor for sensing the indication of the inserted cassette, and means responsive to the output of the sensor for selectively enabling the performance of the first or second program, the second program only being performed if the film has been processed. As shown, the cassette used is generally as described and claimed in Specification No. 1326826 in which processing liquid 95 is applied to the film 24 in cassette 10 through an aperture 124 in a reservoir (102) of the liquid. Before processing, aperture 124 is sealed by a slider 140 Fig.5; in order to effect processing slider 140 is moved to the right Fig.6 (not shown) so that an aperture 156 therein is aligned with aperture 124; at the completion of processing slider 140 is moved further to the right Fig.8 (not shown) to reseal aperture 124 and is prevented from returning by engagement of an arm 212 with a latch 210. This movement of slider 140 causes an arm 172 to close an initially open switch 184 which thus serves to indicate that the film has been processed. On insertion of the cassette in projector 174 a logic circuit (320) senses whether switch 184 is open or closed and thus initiates either processing, e.g. program (a), or projection, i.e. program (b). The completion of film winding and rewinding is sensed by micro-switch arrangements (216), (218) Fig.7 (not shown).
