Abstract

1380967 Door-operating appliances BILLERI RICCARDO & FIGLI SNC 23 Feb 1972 [10 March 1971] 8309/72 Heading E2M A mechanical opening and closing system for a door of a tannery paddle tumbler 5 comprises an arcuate door 13, arcuate guides 15 for the door, and a fluid-operated control -including an arcuate rack 17 and a fluid motor 21 having a pinion 19, to slide the door along the guides. The arcuate rack 17 is integral with the door, and the fluid motor 21 is mounted on the wall of the tumbler. The fluid is supplied to the motor 21 through conduits 31 and a manifold coaxial with the hub of the tumbler. Fluid is also supplied to an inflatable sealing member (11), Figure 5 (not shown), disposed around the door opening, the sealing member when inflated serving not only to seal the door but also to assist in retaining the door in its closed position. The door may also be held in its closed or open positions by continuous application of pressurised fluid to the motor 21. A locking means in the form of a fluid-operated latch (not shown) may also be provided. Operation of the motor 21 may be controlled by limit switches.
