Abstract

1380625 Cosmetic containers EYELET SPECIALTY CO 18 May 1972 [26 Jan 1972] 23479/72 Heading B8P A cartridge type lipstick container 10, the base portion 11 of which may be decorative and relative expensive has a polypropylene or A.B.S. injection moulded base operating member 12 having locating and locking means between itself and the base portion 11, the member 12 being also integrally moulded with an inner sleeve 27 of the propulsion mechanism. Splines 18 on member 12 engage projections 16 on the portion 11 and a groove 19 on member 12 is engaged by pedestals 17 projecting from the inner wall of portion 11. The wall thickness and clearance between members 11 and 12 enables the pedestals 17 to be snapped into the groove 19 when the members are assembled. The upper edge 24 of each pedestal 17 is at a slight angle α whereas the lower edge 25 is at a greater angle. The angle of surface 25 forms a cam surface to facilitate removal and replacement of another cartridge 10. In another embodiment (Figs. 6-8) the groove is in the inside wall of the base portion 11 and the pedestals are on the outer surface of the base member 12. In this embodiment the angles of the upper and lower edges 24, 25 are reversed. In a further embodiment (Figs. 9, 10) the pedestals (41) are also on the base 12 of the cartridge. In a final embodiment (Fig. 11) which is similar to Fig. 5, the pedestals are part of the base 12 and projections 22<SP>1</SP> providing axial location are several discrete arcuate elements or may be a single circumferential inward bead.
