Abstract
1379656 Electro-medical apparatus COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 15 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 22625/72 Heading GIN Biological signals typical of the activity of the digestive system, the respiratory tract, the heart system and the brain of a subject are monitored by attaching a respective electrode 2-5 at the extremity of the four limbs of the subject and simultaneously recording on separate tracks the amplified voltages appearing between said electrodes taken two-by-two, a second recording means being provided for recording the voltages. As shown the electrode leads are connected to a terminal 6 whose outputs are connected to respective amplifiers 7-12 of six tracks, the outputs of the amplifiers being supplied to a recorder 13 via a sampling device 14. Three further recording channels are provided by the second recording means 17, e.g. an oscilloscope. A frequency analyzer 16 (or a plurality of such analyzers) is also provided. A counter may be provided to count, during a given time interval, significant pulse peaks of a signal, and an alarm device may be actuated when a signal exceeds a predetermined level. Further electrodes may be arranged in the form of a tetrahedron (three on the front and one on the back of the subject) and be connected two-by-two to the six recording tracks to obtain further information regarding the organs of the digestive system. The electrical axis of each organ may be calculated by determining the electrical vectors between two pairs of electrodes and determining the resultant vector which then represents the electrical axis.
