Abstract

1379587 Air motor speed control BOWLES FLUIDICS CORP 10 Dec 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 57593/71 Heading G3P An air motor 10 supplied by valve 11 is maintained at constant speed regardless of load by adjusting valve 11 using a signal 15 from a bridge circuit 13 including a restrictor 23 in series with the motor and a parallel branch fitted with series restrictors 19, 21 of which the latter is permanently choked. The pressures at 20, 24 downstream of restrictors 19, 23 are compared in fluidic amplifier 25 from which signal 15 is obtained. The bridge circuit thus adjusts the valve 11 to maintain the pressures at 20, 24 equal, the pressure at 24 varying according to the load on the motor but, due to restrictor 21 being choked, the volume of air delivered to the motor remaining constant. In a modification, amplifier 25 is replaced by a bellows operated leak-off valve controlling the supply valve optionally through one or more fluidic amplifiers. Variation of the set speed is obtained by adjusting restrictor 23.
