Abstract

1379366 Resistors MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 23 Feb 1973 [23 Feb 1972] 9112/73 Heading HIS A resistor is produced by applying a sinuous path of resistive paste 14 to a flexible transfer film, e.g. of synthetic resin, placing the film or the inside surface of a tubular support 17, of heat-resistant, e.g. ceramic material, and heating the support so that the resistance paste ahderes to it and the transfer film is burned off. Areas of electrode paste 13 are also provided to which are connected leads 20. The pastes 13, 14 which consist of conductive particles and glass frit dispersed in a liquid vehicle are preferably applied to the film by screen printing After printing, the transfer film is stripped from a carrier (if provided), inserted into the support wrapped around a rod, and is caused to adhere to the inside surface by electrostatic, mechanical or surface tension forces. The inside surface and the pastes 13, 14 may be protected by a layer 23 of the organic resin. The support 17 may be sealed by metal end caps 19, 24, and rubber caps (11, Fig. 4, not shown) may also be provided. A tapped resistor layer may be formed having areas of electrode material at intermediate as well as at end positions (Fig. 7, not shown). To obtain a uniform temperature distribution along the resistor, the centre portions of the sinuous path may be spaced further apart than the end portions (Fig. 5, not shown).
