1377998 17α - Acetoxy - 3,20 - diketopregnane compounds SCHERING AG 29 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970] 55209/71 Heading C2U [Also in Division A5] 17α - Acetoxy - 1α,2α - methylene - 6,7α - oxido- #<SP>4</SP> - pregnene - 3,20 - dione is prepared by treating 17α - acetoxy - 1α,2α - methylene - #<SP>4,6</SP>- pregnadiene 3,20-dione with perbenzoic acid, and upon treatment of this product with HCl in glacial acetic acid 6-chloro-1α-chloromethyl- 17α - acetoxy - #<SP>4,6</SP> - pregnadiene - 3,20 - dione is formed which upon heating under nitrogen forms 6 - chloro - 17α - acetoxy - 1α,2α - methylene- #<SP>4,6</SP> - pregnadiene - 3,20 - dione which upon hydrolysis gives 6-chloro-1α,2α-methylene-#<SP>4,6</SP>- pregnadiene-17α-ol-3,20-dione.
