Abstract

1376591 High pressure nozzles N C FRANZ 26 June 1972 29773/72 Heading B2F A nozzle comprises an insert 38 in a retaining member 28 disposed in a counter bore 22 of a nozzle holder 20 screwed on to a tubular member 12. The retaining member is sealed to the tubular member by an O ring 46 which expands under pressure to seal the space between the end of the tubular member 12 and the nozzle holder. In the Fig. 2 construction the O ring is disposed at the periphery of the retaining member 78 and the counter bore 72 in which the retaining member is a loose fit. The nozzle inserts may be of glass or sapphire. The working pressure is of the order of 70,000 lbs/square" and provides a piercing or cutting supersonic jet.
