Abstract
1375560 Collecting melt-space filaments KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 20 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 59040/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division C1] Filaments are melt spun through orifices 3 in rotating spinneret 1 and blown, by air issuing from circular orifice 6, along the surface of fixed disc 4 to be collected on pins 9. These pins 9 are spaced around rotatable ring 8-1 and collect the filaments in the form of a bundle 19. The ring 8-1 is rotated by means of ring gear 8-2 engaging with gear-wheel 10 which is driven by drive-shaft 11. Ring 8-1 is supported by roller 7-2 which is held in bracket 7-1 by pin 7-3. Cutter 16 is positioned at the outer edge of the stationary disc 4 and cuts each filament issuing from each orifice once per rotation of the spinneret into a length approximately equal to the circumference of ring 8-1. Above the cutter is positioned an air line 18 which blows the bundles 19 of filaments down a shoot 17 below the cutters. Preferably the ring 8-1 rotates more slowly than the spinneret; it may rotate, however, in either direction.
