1375175 Adjusting vehicle suspension height SEB TRAILERS UK Ltd 9 Feb 1972 [12 Feb 1971] 4521/71 Heading B7D [Also in Division B8] In a trailer or semi-trailer having a load platform which can be lowered or inclined to a position in which a load may be driven or rolled on and off, each road wheel 8 is rotatably mounted on an arm 5 pivotally connected to a side member 7, an hydraulic ram 9 is connected between the arm 5 and the extremity of a leaf spring 12, and a mechanical locking device 16 for maintaining the ram 9 in the extended position comprises an arcuate element 15 which is pivotally mounted so as to drop over the pistonrod 11 of the ram and can be swung clear by means of a handle 18. Hydraulic fluid is supplied to the rams 9 to raise the load platform by operating a hand pump, and is released to lower the platform by a manually-operated valve. The locking devices may alternatively be power actuated and the pump may be power driven.
