Abstract
1374752 Reciprocating pumps JOHN HASTIE & CO Ltd 30 March 1973 15335/73 Heading F1A A pump arrangement, e.g. for supplying hydraulic rams controlling a ship's rudder, comprises a swash-plate pump 10 with a boost pump 30 and a servo pump 50 driven by the swashplate pump drive-shaft, the servo pump supplying actuating fluid to servomotors 18 controlling the swash-plate inclination according to the setting of a spool valve 56. Pumps 30 and 50 are gear pumps mounted in a casing 49 attached to the swash-plate pump. Boost pump 30 supplies fluid to the inlet side 22, 24 (depending on the swashplate setting) of the swash-plate pump via one of check-valves 38, an accumulator 44 and a pressurerelief valve 40 being provided. Valve 56 is connected to the servo pump 50 via check-valve 54 and to the delivery side of the swash-plate pump via one of check-valves 70, 72. A pressure-relief valve 62 for pump 50 has a higher operating pressure than relief valve 40. The valves, accumulator and passages are located in casing 49.
