Abstract

1373933 Resistance heating element ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 24 Nov 1971 [25 Nov 1970] 54483/71 Heading H5H [Also in Division F1] An electric heating element 8 in a fuel injector (see Division F1) comprises capillary tubes separated by narrow gaps and surrounded by thermal insulation 10. Heating is controlled in dependence on engine temperature and also optionally on engine speed, load or the temperature of the combustion chamber, cooling air or exhaust gas. Heating can be discontinued if the engine stops. The heating element may be a whisker packet i.e. an element which is compressed from fine mono-crystalline needles which are electrically conductive.
