Abstract

1372491 Waste-disposal containers MUCON ENG CO Ltd 8 May 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 8737/72 Heading B8C A waste-disposal container comprising a sack, or bag, of flexible material, such as sheet paper, or plastics, having a cylindrical wall 1 has a first rigid circular ring 2 attached to the end of the wall at the mouth of the sack, or bag, and a second rigid circular ring 3 attached to the wall so as to be spaced from, and parallel to, the first ring when the wall portion 4 between the two rings assumes a cylindrical configuration, the wall portion between the rings being of such length that when one ring is rotated relative to the other, said wall portion is twisted to form an iris diaphragm which closes the sack, or bag. A carrier for the container comprises a sheet metal plate 5 having a flange 6 for attachment to a permanent support such as a stand, or wall, and an aperture 7 of a diameter slightly less than that of the rings 2, 3, circumferentially-spaced lugs 8 being bent upwardly from the plate 5 surrounding the aperture. In use the container is inserted into the aperture 7 and the rings 2, 3 are positioned, in superposed relationship, on the plate around the aperture 7 beneath the lugs 8, the wall portion 4 between the two rings forming a double-walled sleeve hanging within the container. The container, open to receive refuse, can be closed by rotating the topmost ring 2 relative to the lower ring 3 so that the sleeve 4 is twisted to form an iris a diaphragm which closes the mouth of the container.
