Abstract

1372029 Disposable oil filters GENERAL MOTORS Ltd 16 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970 14 Jan 1971] 60777/70 and 1838/71 Addition to 1275651 Heading B1D The disposable integral-housing filter unit, for the lubrication circuit of an I.C. engine, disclosed in Specification 1,275,651, which comprises a casing 1 with an end-plate 4 formed with a threaded socket 5 and an elastomeric sealing member 12 with an inward projection 18 for sealing engagement with the spigot 6 on which the filter unit is to be screwed, is modified in that the inward projection 18, instead of engaging in the thread of the spigot 6 is adapted to engage an unthreaded extension of that spigot (as shown) or the end face of the spigot. The unthreaded extension of the spigot may be an anti-drain tube fitted within the spigot in place of the anti-drain tube 16 shown. An. outward projection 14 of the sealing member cooperates with inlets 11 in the end plate 4 to form non- return valves.
