1371804 Plant growth regulation using halosilanes AGRIPAT SA 5 Oct 1971 [6 Oct 1970 14 May 1971] 46336/71 Heading C1B [Also in Division C3] Novel and other beta-halosilanes of the formula wherein X denotes Br or Cl, Y denotes Cl or -OR3 and R1, R2 and R3 independently denote unsubstituted or mono-, or poly-halo-, C1-8 alkoxy-, C3-8 alkenyloxy-, phenoxy-, C3-8 cycloalkyl-, C1-8 alkylthio-, (C1-8 alkoxy) carbonylheterocyclyl-, di- or tri-(C1-4 alkyl)- amino - substituted C1-18 alkyl groups; C3-18 alkenyl groups; C3-6 haloalkenyl groups; C3-8 alkynyl groups; C3-12 cycloalkyl groups; unsubstituted or mono- or polycyano-, nitro-, C1-4 alkyl-, C1-4 haloalkyl-, C1-4 alkoxy-, C1-4 alkylthio-, C1-4 alkanoyl-, or (C1-4 alkoxy) carbonyl-substituted phenyl groups;' or unsubstituted mono- or poly-C1-4 alkyl-, C1-4 alkoxy- or halo-substituted benzyl groups; or one or more of R1, R2 and R3 may represent the group -COR4 in which R4 denotes a C1-18 alkyl, C3-8 alkenyl, C3-8 alkynyl, C1-6 haloalkyl or C3-6 haloalkenyl group each of which alkyl or alkenyl groups may be substituted by a C3-12 cycloalkyl or an unsubstituted or C1-4 alkyl-, C1-4 alkoxy-, or halo-substituted phenyl group; or R4 denotes an alkoxyalkyl or alkoxycarbonylalkyl group with C1-8 alkyl moieties; a benzoyl (C1-4 alkyl) group; an unsubstituted or mono- or polyhalo-, C1-4 alkyl-, C1-4 alkoxy- or 5 or 6 ring atom heterocyclyl-substituted phenyl group; or a pair from R1, R2 and R3, together with the group to which they are bonded form a heterocyclic system, optionally in admixture with solid extenders and/or surfactants may be applied to plants or plant growth substrates to effect regulation of growth, including promotion of the abscission of fruits and leaves, acceleration of fruit ripening and promotion of the discharge of latex or resin from trees.
