Abstract

1370882 Endless conveyers NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 16 Sept 1971 [25 June 1970] 30898/70 Heading B8A A conveyer belt is guided by nylon blocks 9 secured to the belt by self-tapping screws 10, the blocks being engageable with stationary guide members 14 having flared entries 16. The belt is also guided by troughed end rollers 2, 3, of which grooves 8 provide no lateral guidance to the blocks 9. Support without lateral guidance for the belt is also provided by surfaces 17 which have a groove 18 for clearing the blocks 9. To prevent the belt from rising, skids 22 are arranged above the belt. Alternatively, the blocks 9 may be replaced by T-section blocks (19) which engage the underside of the guide members (14), Fig. 6 (not shown). As a further alternative, strips (20) transverse of the belt assist in preventing the blocks (9) from lifting, Fig. 7 (not shown). A diagonal plough 23a removes a load sideways from the belt. The belt is of laminated construction with a woven polypropylene base faced with P.V.C. The conveyer may be used for light loads such as grass.
