Abstract

1370686 Transferring workpieces HIGHWOOD MECHANICAL FEEDS Ltd 17 Sept 1971 43374/71 Heading B3H A device for transferring workpieces between stations of a press, comprises gripper bars 10, 11 moved to and from gripping position by means located on the same side of the bars and comprising an hydraulic cylinder 20, racks 17, pinions 16 and racks 14, 15, secured to the gripper bars 10, 11 respectively. The cylinder is mounted on one of two blocks 19 each of which supports a pinion 16 and its associated racks 14, 15. The blocks 19 are connected together by a rod 23. Mounted on the block 19 which carries the cylinder 20 is the ram 24 of an hydraulic cylinder 25 which moves the blocks 19 and thus the gripper bars in the feed and return directions. Limit switches 27, 28 co-operate with switches 29, 30 to control the operating sequence of the device.
