Abstract

1370472 Paper-making apparatus BELOIT CORP 28 Oct 1971 [19 Nov 1970] 50245/71 Heading D2A [Also in Division B1] A press for dewatering a fibrous web 12 comprises non-porous belts 14, 22 formed as loops between which the web is carried by a pourous belt 10 the belts 14, 22 being pressed towards each other by devices 16, 24, each including a pressurized fluid containing chamber. Open adjacent the respective belt. The chamber is provided in a piston 33 and is supplied with fluid from a chamber 31, through holes 34, the fluid in the chamber 31 providing a fluid pressure backing for the piston to obviate its deflection during load, and liquid from the chamber which is open adjacent a belt escaping over surfaces 35, 35A of the piston to lubricate these surfaces. The liquid supplied to the chamber may come from a source separate from the chamber 31. Additional fluid may be supplied to the belt 22 to lubricate the surfaces 35, 35A through a conduit 38.
