Abstract

1370044 Automatic feed weighing AGRICULTURAL UTILITIES (MACHINERY) Ltd 19 Jan 1973 [20 May 1972] 23863/72 Heading G1W An apparatus for dispensing predetermined quantities of a material comprises a chute 11 for feeding material alternately into two containers 19, and means for automatically directing the chute from one container to the other when the predetermined quantity has been reached in the one container. Chute 11 is mounted on rotatable shaft 35 so as to be able to direct material to opening 14 or opening 15, the openings communicating with respective chutes 17, 18 to which containers such as sacks 19 are connected. A pair of weighbeams 20, 21 each has a sack supporting end and a counterweight 24 supporting end, the beams being pivoted at 22. Each weighbeam is connected by a rod 25 or 26, a sliding eyelet 31 or 32 and a pushrod 27 or 28 having a stop 29 or 30 to one end of a pivoted lever 33. Pivoted lever 33 is connected by bevel gears to shaft 35 so that oscillation of lever 33 about axis 34 moves chute 11 between position on which it registers with openings 14 and 15 respectively. In use, if chute 11 is initially aligned with opening 14, material is fed into the corresponding sack 19. As the sack 19 approaches the pre-set weight determined by counterweight 24, the weighbeam 20 tilts towards the horizontal position and thus causes the chute 11 to be progressively moved out of alignment with opening 14 into alignment with opening 15. The apparatus may be used for weighing root crops such as potatoes, grain, fertilisers, sugar and fruit into sacks or drums. The invention may also be applied to dispensing liquids such as oil or molasses with appropriate sealing.
