Abstract

1369495 Stop-gear regulating MARCONI CO Ltd 26 Nov 1971 [16 Oct 1971] 48212/71 Headings F1B and F1K A regulating arrangement and stop-gear comprises a lever 1 having three connection points each capable of lateral movement, a first member 3 pivotally connected to a first point, an output member 13 connected to a second point and drive means 16 pivotally connected to a third point, and the first member is capable of lateral movement from a first position in which the drive means imparts lateral movement to the third point to rotate the lever about the first point in order to produce normal lateral control movement of the output member to a second position (shutdown position) during which movement the lever is rotated about the third point. As shown emergency shut-down operation is achieved by the opening of contacts 28 thus de-energizing the solenoid 5, when excess speed is detected by the device 29. Provision may be made for operating the contacts 28 manually. The sector 16 which is driven by an electric motor (not shown) controls the fuel supply of a prime mover 24, with the aid of a speed sensitive device 23. The prime mover may be a diesel engine.
