Abstract

1368344 Trenching or ditching machines PIETRO DONDI & FIGLI 12 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 22376/72 Heading ElF A digging unit for the digging of and/or cleaning out trenches or ditches comprises a wheeled chassis 1 that can be towed behind a tractor, and arm 21 mounted at a position between its ends on the chassis for pivotal movement about an upright axis and carrying at one end trench-digging means 48 and at the other end a counter weight 19, a means 11 for adjusting the attitude of the arm for ensuring the desired presentation of the digging means. The chassis can be coupled to the lift arms of a three point lift linkage of the tractor and can carry a platform 16 rotatable about said upright axis and lockable to the frame in two positions angularly spaced by 90‹ so that the arm 21, which is pivoted on the platform about an axis 27 at right angles to the upright axis can either extend rearwards parallel to or laterally at right angles to the direction of advance of the chassis. The arm can be a two part, articulated member 21, 25, the parts being movable relative to the frame and to each other by jacks 11, 33. The digging means may comprise one or more cutter teeth-armed discs 48 rotatably mounted on the output shaft(s) 49 of a gear box 26 pivotably supported on the outer part 25 of the arm and angularly adjustable thereto by a jack 43. Drive from the power take off of the towing tractor can be through shaft 27 and belt drive 52 and shafting within the arm part.
