Abstract

1366351 Non-metallic springs GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 11 Aug 1971 [11 Sept 1970] 37695/71 Heading F2S [Also in Division C3] A shock-absorbing unit, Fig. 1, may comprise a shock absorbing element comprising a shaped solid resilient polyureaurethane prepared by reacting at least one diamine selected from orthodichlorobenzidine and 4,41-methylene bis-orthochloroaniline with a prepolymer derived from 3,3<SP>1</SP> - bitolylene - 4,4<SP>1</SP> - diisocyanate and reactive hydrogen containing polymeric materials which comprise or contain polytetramethylene ether glycol (see Division C3), having two opposing and substantially parallel force-receiving surfaces connected by at least one side-wall and having rigid force-receiving plates adhered to the force-receiving surfaces. A stack of the units in a tubular housing may be used in railroad draft gear. The cured polyureaurethane member 1 is bonded to two hot-rolled mild steel plates 2, 3. The shockabsorbing unit may also be used as a bridgesupport pad.
