Abstract

1365664 Packaging tetrahedral packages in containers TETRA PAK INTERNATIONAL AB 25 Jan 1973 [14 Feb 1972] 3734/73 Heading B8C Apparatus for loading of tetrahedral packages 3 into containers 15 comprises matrices 7 in which the packages are arranged before being transferred to the containers. The packages are directed by movable guides 6 from a conveyer chain 5 into the matrices which are rotated so that the packages fall into the individual spaces 21 therein. Suction grippers are arranged on the end of a pair of rotatable arms 9 on a vertically movable column 10. As one matrix is being filled one of the arms lifts the packages in the other matrix while the other arm deposits previously collected packages into the container 15 which has a pyramid shaped base. Each suction gripper can be pivoted about a horizontal axis while the container 15 can be rotated through 30 degrees so that layers of tetrahedral packages can be suitably arranged in each container.
