Abstract

1365020 Heavy current switches MULTICONTACT AG 29 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971 20 Sept 1972] 58902/72 Heading H1N In a D.C. pole-reversing switch, two input elements 1, 2, Fig. 1, in the same plane and a pair of output elements 3, 4 spaced above and below the plane, are alternatively bridged across by movable contact elements 6, 7. Each of the elements 6, 7 comprises a pair of outwardly spring-biased halves 6a, 6b and 7a, 7b movable in opposite directions by a crank and connecting rod system 8, 15. In the particular embodiment the elements 6, 7 are of square section split across a diagonal and yieldingly held together in square-section apertures 11, Fig. 2, of the fixed input and output elements 1-4 as by compression springs 32, 33 at opposite ends engaging abutments 34, 35 and rings 38, 39 respectively on the opposed halves. The connecting rods 15 have a limited lost motion within the movable elements 6, 7 and carry cylindrical pins 16 adapted to engage detented opposed pairs of members 14 of the elements whereby the pins 16 are normally detented to remain in a central position, but on movement to either extreme up or down position against stops 21, 22, the pins 16 force the members 14 apart to clamp the contacts into firm engagement and retain the system in the respective up or down position. The pins 16 are slidable up and down relative to the rods 15 against the action of stacked spring washers 24, 25. The contact forces of the movable contact elements 6, 7 comprise resilient strips 12, Fig. 6, with transverse slots and alternately outwardly and inwardly bowed contact lips 13.
