Abstract
1363902 Article transporting APPARATENBOUW MOBA NV 11 Aug 1971 [12 Aug 1970] 37629/71 Heading B8H [Also in Division E2] A device for carrying an object and for discharging the object therefrom comprises a holder 4 on which is mounted two fixed fingers 31, 32 and a third finger 30 which is movable relative to the said two fixed fingers, the holder 4 being connected to a support 1 which is driven along guides 6 such that an object carried by the said fingers can be carried from one location to another, the movable finger 30 being connected by means of a swivel arm 26 and shaft 11 to a rotatably mounted block 12 on which a guide roll 13 is mounted for movement along a guide 33 when the fingers 30-32 are in an object engaging position, there being a discharge member 17 connected to the holder 4 which abuts a fixed discharge abutment 34 located in the path of the holder 4 adjacent to the location at which the object is to be discharged from the holder, the abutment of the two members 17, 34 causing hooks 16 (15), Fig. 1(a), not shown, connected to the discharge member 17 and block 12 respectively to become disengaged and thus the block 12, guide roll 13, shaft 11, arm 26 and finger 30 rotate about the vertical axis of the shaft 11 under the action of a spring (not shown). During the rotation of the block 12 about the shaft 11 and particularly at low travelling speeds of the holder 4 the guide roll 13 contacts the vertical surface 40 of a delay member 39 which causes the delay of the movement of the finger 30 to its open position, the delay member 39 being mounted in the path of the guide roll 13 and being freely swingable about an axis 37. The holder 4 is connected to the support 1 by means of a balance arm 3 forming part of a balance, the rest of which is not shown, and a link 9 pivotally connected to both the support 1 and holder 4. As soon as an object is discharged from the fingers 30-32 the holder 4 is swung upwardly relative to the support 1 by means of the arm 3 and link 9 so that the said fingers do not contact the discharged object.
