1363711 Alkylanthraquinones for hydrogen peroxide production E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 11 Oct 1971 [9 Oct 1970] 47225/71 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] Alkylanthraquinones of Formula IV or tetrahydroanthraquinones of Formula V (wherein R1 to R4 are each H or C1-C8 straight chain alkyl) may be used as working intermediates in the cyclic oxidation-reduction method for producing H2O2. They are first reduced to the corresponding hydroquinones by hydrogenation with a supported Pd or Raney Ni catalyst in solution in a water-immiscible solvent.
